Where does the data come from?
Directly from SAM.gov, the federal government's system of record for contract opportunities, plus SBA certification data. GovScout doesn't scrape stale mirrors — searches hit live data.
Who is GovScout for?

Do I need a SAM.gov account or API key?
No. If you have a CAGE code, you're ready. Your SAM registration is public data.
What about state and local contracts?
The dashboard includes a state & local portal directory matched to your registered address — your state's procurement site plus the major nationwide bid platforms — and you can save your own local portal links. Live in-feed local solicitations are rolling out next.
Will GovScout tell me before my SAM registration expires?
Yes — free. Your dashboard shows the expiration date from your SAM.gov record with a green/amber/red status on every free account. Pro accounts add emails 60, 30, and 10 days before expiry and again if it lapses — with a renewal checklist. A lapsed registration means no awards and payment holds, and it's the single most common problem APEX Accelerator counselors see. Renewal is free at SAM.gov.
Does GovScout write my proposals?
It drafts the short-form documents you actually write weekly — sources-sought/RFI responses, tailored capability statements, past-performance write-ups, and cover letters — not full technical volumes. Drafts are built exclusively from your saved SAM.gov profile, your capability statement, the pursuit's details, and your real FPDS award history. The drafter is hard-blocked from inventing facts: any missing detail appears as a [FILL IN] marker for you to complete, and you review and edit everything before it leaves the building. Where does incumbent intel come from?
From FPDS — the Federal Procurement Data System, the government's system of record for contract awards, republished through USAspending.gov. GovScout matches an opportunity to prior awards using the contracting-office code in the solicitation number, the agency, NAICS, and title, then shows the current holder, obligated dollars and ceiling, period end, set-aside type, the incumbent's size and socio-economic status, offers received, and the count of prior awards in the lineage. Matching is heuristic, so each result shows a high/medium/low confidence rating (high = same contracting office and matching description) and links to the official award record so you can verify in one click. (FPDS.gov's own search was retired into SAM.gov; USAspending republishes the official FPDS record.) Pro feature.
What's in the capability statement builder?
A structured form (overview, core competencies, differentiators, past performance, certifications, company data, point of contact) with a live preview and a one-page Letter PDF export. Your identity fields are pre-filled from your SAM.gov registration, and the statement is saved to your account so you can refresh it before each submission. Drafting and preview are free; saving and PDF export are Pro features.
Is my data private?
Your account holds only what you give it — email, and the profile you choose to save. Match profiles are built from public SAM.gov registration data.
